BVP1982 in your snippet on the SL at the right, you say that the 2007 SL 500 uses a 5.5 litre V8 that is essentially the old SL55 engine without the addition of supercharger. The old SL 55 AMG motor displaced 5439cc and had 3-valves per cylinder activated by a SOHC arrangement. This engine minus the supercharger powers the SLK 55 AMG.
The 2007 SL 5.5 litre V8 actually displaces 5461cc and is a new four valve per cylinder DOHC unit.

Ive bought it! Virtually identical to yours but have red hub caps. Starting a restoration project to get this to showroom condition.

This is an amazing looking car! Today I need to decide whether I will purchase one. I test drove this yesterday – first impression on engine noise is quiet, smooth and sound remarkably like the Wright Gemini 2 (London double decker) bus, but the looks & drive are amazing.
